Plum Smoothie

My recipes are grain free, refined sugar free and many are dairy free. I am enjoying my journey into new found health and energy. If you have ever lived through a veil of beyond exhaustion then you know what I am talking about. I have been tired and overexerted but this kind of tired is not easy to explain unless you have lived it. I have Hashimoto’s and I think was the reason for the overtiredness. When you are this tired everything feels like a chore. Like you are trying to walk through cement. It is an effort just to get up in the mornings, to put clothes on and take a shower. After taking a shower I sometimes felt I needed a nap to finish getting ready. I was embarrassed to tell my friends just how bad it was. But since starting supplements and changing the way I eat with the help of a Functional Doctor it has made a huge difference.

Shouldn’t all doctors be functional? I can’t tell you how many years I suffered from Hashimoto’s before I got diagnosed. I really wish more doctors would listen to their patients and not say things like “lose weight”, “it’s in your head”, “you just want to be sick”. Um, maybe there is a physical reason why I am feeling this way. If you have ever felt this way or been treated this way by a doctor. I apologize for them. It is no fun to feel this way. But maybe changing your diet will help you too.

I love smoothies. This one is dairy free and uses coconut milk yogurt. You can use my recipe to make your own or by store-bought totally up to you. I really do love writing recipes. I tend to go to a local Farmers Market once a week in the summertime. They have had the most wonderful and tasty plums this year. So sweet and succulent. I wanted to keep a little of that flavor for other dishes. I made plum preserves. The perfect pairing for a summertime smoothie. I hope you enjoy!!

6 ounces homemade coconut milk yogurt or store bought

1/2 cup almond milk

4 0r more pieces of ice

1/4 cup homemade plum preserves

* Optional: 1 scoop Dr. Axe Collagen

Pour yogurt into blender. Add almond milk, ice, plum preserves, and collagen. Blend on high one minute. Pour into a glass and enjoy!
