Tomato Green Chili Bisque

My recipes are grain free, refined sugar free and many are dairy free. I am living the grain free life and so far changing my diet has lead to a healthier life. I have been able to go off most of my medications. I am under the care of a functional doctor who has also prescribed me supplements. I am currently trying to reduce the heavy metals and toxins in my body. Due to my improved labs and blood work I have been able to go off all my medications except for my thyroid medication for my Hashimoto’s. But even my Hashi’s has improved and my medication has been reduced.

I am a homeschooling mom who loves, history, science, theater, acting (improv), speech and debate and of course writing new and creative recipes. I love learning along with my youngest and last teenager. I recently read that Joachim Ronneberg who was 99 years old passed away. Who was Joachim? Have you seen the movie “Heroes of Telemark” with Kirk Douglas? That movie was based on the top-secret raid who sabotaged Hitler’s A-bomb. He and other’s skied the Telemark mountains in the winter to accomplish this feat. I wanted to just take a moment to thank him and the other’s and other’s like him who turned World War II around. I appreciate all that Joachim and people like him accomplished heroic things. I just wanted to take a moment to lift his family and friends up in prayer. I love fall and the season of soups. How blessed we are that each season has its own special foods and festivals. I am always trying to recreate soups and have them taste different. I really do love tomato soup or tomato bisque. I don’t know why but lately I have been on a spicy kick. But if you have read my blog then you know that I like a kick but not hot heat. This soup is slightly spicier. I took one can of fire-roasted tomatoes and blended it in my blender so that it is mostly smooth and creamy while the other can gives this soup it’s texture. It has a subtle and sweet heat. My family really enjoyed it. I hope you do too. This recipe serves four.

2 (15 oz) cans chopped oven roasted tomatoes

1 1/4 cup chicken broth

1 teaspoon maple syrup

1 small can green chilies

1 pinch of salt

1/4 teaspoon paprika

1/4 teaspoon Powdered Jalapeno

1 tablespoon tomato paste (in a tube)

2 teaspoon sun-dried tomatoes (in a tube)

1 1/2 cup heavy cream

1/4 teaspoon baking soda


Place one can of roasted tomatoes into a blender and blend until liquid and set aside. On a large pot on the stove combine the remaining can of roasted tomatoes, chicken broth, maple syrup, green chilis, salt, paprika, jalapeno, tomato paste, and sundried tomatoes. Let come to a simmer. Add cream and carefully add baking soda as it will slightly foam up. The baking soda will neutralize the acidity and will not allow the cream to curdle. Lastly, add the liquid from the blender and slowly stir in the cream. Once combined it is ready to serve.
