Hickory BBQ Sauce

Hickory BBQ Sauce has a deep smokey Hickory flavor with a little kick to it. Refined sugar-free with a little Cholula sauce for heat. Easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 6 oz. tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup apple vinegar
  • 1 tsp pink salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp granulated onion
  • 1 minced garlic clove
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 - 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Cholula sauce
  • 1/2 - 1 tsp hickory liquid smoke
  • 1 tsp mustard powder
  • 2 tbsp my BBQ Seasoning recipe on my blog
  • 1 tbsp coconut nectar

Instructions

  • First, combine all the ingredients into a pot and boil for 20 minutes or you can build a more flavorful sauce by allowing it to simmer for 1 hour. If you want it thinner add more water. Remove from the stove and allow to cool. Lastly, once cooled place sauce into a sterilized glass jar with a tight-fitting lid and store in the fridge. Good for up to 1 month.
