First, after use of any vanilla bean pod find a place to store it until you have more pods.
Once you have 5 to 6 pods place them in a place to dry.
Once they are hard then break them into pieces.

Finally, place the vanilla pieces into a spice grinder.
Grind until the vanilla bean pods are ground into a powder.
Remove any small pieces that are not powder and save for the next time.
Lastly, pour the beans into a jar with a lid and store in your spice drawer or shelf.
Use like you would pure vanilla extract.
If a recipe calls for one tsp use 1/2 a tsp.
Makes approximately 1 1/2 overflowing tbsp.
