Ingredients

Grain-Free Chicken Fried Steak

  • 2 lbs top round or cube steak
  • 3 large beaten eggs
  • 1/2 cup dairy-free coconut buttermilk find the recipe on my blog
  • 2 tsp Cholula
  • 2 cloves of minced garlic
  • 3 tsp pink salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cup Grain-Free Garlic Cracker Crumbs see the recipe on my blog
  • 2 cups cassava flour
  • 1/2 cup avocado oil

Gravy

  • 4 tbsp avocado oil
  • 4 tbsp tapioca flour
  • 3-5 cup beef broth
  • 2 tsp Cholula
  • 2 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp pink salt
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup almond milk or coconut milk

Instructions

Gluten-Free Chicken Fried Steak

  • First, pound steak into 1/4 inch with a meat tenderizer steak mallet.
    2 lbs top round or cube steak
  • Second, mix together eggs, Cholula, coconut buttermilk, and minced garlic until combined.
    3 large beaten eggs, 1/2 cup dairy-free coconut buttermilk, 2 tsp Cholula, 2 cloves of minced garlic
  • Next, put cassava crackers into a food processor and process until you have crumbs.
    1 1/2 cup Grain-Free Garlic Cracker Crumbs
  • Pour cracker crumbs, cassava flour, salt, black pepper cayenne, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, baking soda, and baking powder into a gallon-sized plastic bag.
    3 tsp pink salt, 1 1/2 tsp black pepper, 1/2 tsp cayenne, 1/2 tsp paprika, 2 tsp onion powder, 2 tsp baking powder, 2 cups cassava flour, 2 tsp baking soda
  • Shake the bag back and forth until thoroughly mixed.
  • Pour 1/2 the flour mixture onto a plate.
  • Pour egg mixture on a plate.
  • Finally, dip steak into egg mixture then dredge into the flour mixture and repeat.
  • Place on a baking sheet. Batter all the steaks.
  • Heat up a frying pan with avocado oil.

  • Don’t add the steaks until the pan is hot.
  • Fry steaks 3 – 5 minutes per side.
  • Drain steaks on to paper towels.
  • When blood starts to bubble to top gently turn steaks with a spatula.
  • Remove steaks to a platter.

Gravy

  • Add 4 tablespoons of avocado oil and 4 tablespoons tapioca flour to the steak pan.
    2 tsp Cholula, 4 tbsp avocado oil, 4 tbsp tapioca flour
  • This will make a roux.
  • Deglaze pan with 3 -5 cups of beef broth.

  • Add 1 cup of coconut milk or almond milk.

  • Whisk until it comes to a boil and thickens.
  • Add remaining seasonings.
    2 tsp Cholula, 2 tsp balsamic vinegar, 1/2 tsp pink salt, 1/2 tsp smoked paprika, 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Gravy should coat the back of a spoon. 5 – 10 minutes
