Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Filet Mignon about 4 filets
  • 4 whole garlic cloves
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 4 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp avocado oil or olive oil

Instructions

  • Smear half a clove of garlic on each filet per side.
    2 lbs Filet Mignon, 4 whole garlic cloves
  • Sprinkle one-half teaspoon garlic powder and balsamic vinegar per filet per side.
    2 tsp garlic powder, 4 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste each side of each filet.
  • If following a GAPS diet omit the black pepper

Stove Seared Oven Grilled

  • First, preheat the oven to 400 F.
  • Second, place a pan on the stove over medium heat.
  • Add butter and avocado oil heat until smoking hot.
    2 tbsp butter, 2 tbsp avocado oil or olive oil
  • Add Seasoned Filets to smoking hot pan.
  • Sear on each side for approximately 4 minutes until you get a nice seared crust on each side.
  • Remove from heat and turn off the stove.
  • Place a cast-iron or ovenproof frying pan with the steaks still inside into the oven.
  • Cook approximately 2-3 minutes per side depending on the thickness.

Oven Broiled

  • Remove from the oven and allow the steak to rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  • Check for the desired doneness of your steak.
  • Preheat oven to Broil.
  • Place an ovenproof probe thermometer into one of the seasoned steaks.
  • Cover broiling pan with tin-foil for easier clean-up.  
  • Grease a broiling pan. 
  • Place the seasoned filets on the broil pan and place them in the oven.
  • Broil 5 minutes on one side remover from oven and flip filet.
  • Return to oven and broil another 4 minutes.
  • Steaks will be from rare to medium-rare.
  • Cook longer for medium to well done.
  • Remove and allow to rest 5 minutes before serving.
  • First, preheat the grill. Second, place Filets onto the grill.
  • Next, place the BBQ safe probe thermometer into one of the Filets.
  • Place the seasoned filets onto the preheated grill.
  • Next, flip filets and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes.
  • Lastly, double-check the BBQ Probe to make sure your steak is to your desired doneness.
  • Allow steak to rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  • Serve with Bearnaise sauce if desired.

Cooks Note:

  • Use an oven-safe/BBQ-safe thermometer to make sure your filet is cooked to your desired doneness.
