Understanding Tigernut Flour and Its Benefits

Tigernut flour is a versatile and nutritious alternative to traditional wheat flour. Made from ground tigernuts, which are actually small root vegetables, this flour is naturally gluten-free and rich in fiber, iron, and magnesium. Its slightly sweet and nutty flavor adds a unique depth to baked goods, making it a popular choice for those looking to experiment with new ingredients. By incorporating Tigernut flour into your graham crackers, you’ll not only enhance the flavor but also reap the health benefits it has to offer.

Gathering Your Ingredients and Tools

When it comes to baking gluten-free graham crackers with tigernut flour, gathering your ingredients and tools is a crucial first step.  For this recipe, you will need tigernut flour, cinnamon, maple sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, avocado oil, and nut milk. In any case, you will also need a mixing bowl, a wooden spoon or spatula, a rolling pin, parchment paper, cookie cutters, and a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Having everything prepared and within reach will make the baking process smoother and more enjoyable. Now that you have all your ingredients and tools assembled, it’s time to move on to mixing and rolling out the dough.

Mixing and Rolling Out the Dough

In the first place, start by mixing and rolling out the dough, followed by combining the tigernut flour, cinnamon, maple sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a mixing bowl. Add in the avocado oil, and nut milk, and mix everything together until a dough forms. Once your dough is ready, place it between two sheets of plastic wrap and use a rolling pin to roll it out to your desired thickness. Cut out your graham crackers using cookie cutters.

Most importantly, it’s time to take them to the next level by using a simple yet effective technique that will ensure a perfect texture. Therefore, place a rubber band on two chopsticks and use them for docking, creating those classic dotted patterns on the surface of your graham crackers. Last but not least, transfer them to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. This step sets you up perfectly for baking and cooling your graham crackers.

Baking and Cooling Your Gluten-Free Graham Crackers

Once your graham crackers are cut out, and docked transfer them to a baking sheet, it’s time to bake them in the preheated oven. Above all, keep a watchful eye as they bake to ensure they achieve the perfect golden hue. While your crackers are baking, the tantalizing aroma will fill your kitchen, building anticipation for the delightful flavors to come. After baking, allow your graham crackers to cool completely on a wire rack before moving on to adding a delicious twist with cinnamon, enhancing the flavors even further.

Nevertheless, we have uncovered the secrets to creating irresistible gluten-free graham crackers using Tigernut flour and a hint of cinnamon. By understanding the benefits of Tigernut flour, gathering the necessary ingredients and tools, rolling out the dough, baking to perfection, and adding a delicious twist, you are now equipped to bake your own batch of these delectable treats. In fact, get ready to savor the nostalgia of a classic snack with a modern twist. So go ahead, roll up your sleeves, preheat the oven, and indulge in the satisfaction of creating your own gluten-free graham crackers. Happy baking!

How To Store

Store in an airtight container. For longer storage place them in a sealable plastic bag for up to three months in the freezer. To freshen up crackers that go stale: evenly space them out on a baking tray and bake them at 225 F for 15 – 25 minutes.
