Homemade Vanilla Bean Paste is made with vanilla bean powder. Furthermore, the taste has an intense flavor with flecks of specks of vanilla bean. Use it in place of Vanilla extract. First and foremost, make it by grinding the leftover pod into a powder. The flecks in the paste are teeny tiny pieces of the vanilla bean pod. Oh my goodness, the smell is so heavenly. Not to mention, there is zero waste as the pods are used too. Incidentally, the flavor is out of this world.
Homemade Vanilla Bean Paste
Honestly, I am a bit of a vanilla snob. I believe there are basically three outstanding Pure Vanilla. They are Mexican Vanilla, Tahitian Vanilla, and my absolute favorite Madagascar Vanilla. Now, I know many people who think you can’t tell the difference between them. Since I got my own home I have never purchased vanilla extract. Conversely, it is way more expensive than extract.
Vanilla Paste simply use in place of vanilla extract. In summary, use it in place of vanilla extract. Not to mention, without any alcohol base. Needless to say, it shines in frostings, icings, custards, ice creams, panna cottas, as it leaves beautiful flecks behind. It reminds me of all the flecks in French Vanilla Ice Cream.
Needless to say, I have never thrown my pods away as I use them to create Powder Vanilla Monkfruit Sweetener. Incidentally, I grew up with Swedish Vanilla Sugar. It is, therefore, why I had my own that I could use in recipes. Hence, simply just add a vanilla bean pod to the powdered monk fruit sweetener. Ta-da! Then just wait a few weeks for the flavor to dissipate into the sweetener.
How to Make Vanilla Bean Powder:
Stop throwing out the vanilla pods if you use them for the caviar. Simply, place them into a plastic bag. Once, you have collected 3 0r 4 make the powder. Before making the powder make sure the vanilla pod is dried out. By the time I get 4 beans, the pods are dried out. Omit any beans that are soft.
Next, break the beans into small pieces. It is necessary for the beans to be brittle. Last but not least, place the bean pieces into a coffee grinder. Process in the grinder until the beans are but specks. Occasionally, not all of the bean pieces will process. Place a fine sieve over a sterilized small jar. Strain out in big pieces that did not process. Simply place any small pieces into a small plastic bag or container.
Then the next time you process vanilla bean pods places them into the spice grinder and process. In conclusion, Powdered Vanilla Bean can be purchased on Amazon. Please keep in mind it is pricy to purchase.
