My recipes are grain free, refined sugar free, and most are dairy free. My recipes are good for those who have allergies or are changing their diet to improve their health. I am trying to revamp most of my recipes so that I can still enjoy them. Most of the time you can’t even taste the difference between the two recipes according to my friends and family.
Many old recipes call for brown sugar. I decided that I wanted to try to make a refined sugar brown sugar. Guess what? Sucess. I know that most brown sugar is from combining sugar and some molasses syrup. So I thought why not combine coconut sugar and maple syrup. The results look pretty close to refined sugar brown sugar. Use with American Swedish Vanilla Cake.
1 cup coconut sugar
2 tablespoons maple syrup
Pour coconut sugar into a bowl add maple syrup and stir until thoroughly combined. Store any excess in a sterilized glass jar with a tight fighting lid in the fridge.
