Homemade Coconut Brown Sugar is the perfect refined sugar-free substitute for brown sugar. Flavorful and adding a brown sugar flavor to any recipe that calls for it. Use in cakes, cookies, and tarts. Needless to say, I have had to create my own condiments, etc, for common recipes.
Homemade Coconut Brown Sugar:
Consequently, many old recipes call for brown sugar. I decided that I wanted to try to make refined sugar brown sugar. Guess what? Success. I know that most brown sugar is from combining sugar and some molasses syrup. So I thought why not combine coconut sugar and maple syrup. The results look pretty close to refined sugar brown sugar. Use with American Swedish Vanilla Cake. Needless to say, this makes trying to write recipes a whole lot easier for me.
Incidentally, maple syrup and coconut sugar can all be found at Amazon.
Personal Notes:
All in all, I am finally glad I am gluten-free as it helps me think outside of the box. In fact, there used to be recipes I would shy away from. Since going gluten-free in 2018 I find I am much more confident now than I used to be. In fact, they say that necessity is the mother of invention. There are so many things I miss. Therefore, when I get a craving for something I love I sit down and create a recipe for it. Once I started writing my recipes my friends asked me to share them. Hence, this blog.
Needless to say, I hope this helps you create all those vintage recipes you have.
