The Whipped Cream Dispenser is one of my favorite gadgets in the kitchen. Believe it or not, I have been asked what is my favorite kitchen gadget. Would you believe that the first original charger was invented in Switzerland in the 1950s?  In fact, it has been used by professional cooks in professional kitchens for years. However, depending on the name brand you have it can make mousse’s, foams, whipped cream, and even whipped cream frosting. Not to mention, I have had my ISI Whipped Cream Dispenser for over 20 years I just can’t remember if I have had my whip cream canister for over 25 years. Needless to say, I almost always use mine during the holidays and anytime we have company. At any rate, it cuts down on the amount of time making whipped cream.

I suggest doing your own research to find out which Dispenser is for you. Or check Whip Cream Chargers out on Amazon. If I purchased a new one I would want a whipped cream maker that has more uses and more attachments. Not just any whipped cream maker would do. The new stainless steel whipped cream dispenser is all the rage and is bright and shiny. Did someone say bright and shiny? I believe I will see a new and shiny Whip Cream Maker in the near future.

How To Make Whipped Cream Dispenser:

Put all ingredients into the canister. Screw the top on. Place the cartridge into the cartridge carrier and screw it on until you hear a slight hiss. Shake the canister 6- 12 times. Place the decorative tip on and spray out whipped cream.

Other Uses:

Most surprisingly I have made a Gluten-Free Bun Sandwich Bread using this device. Cinnamon Whip Cream, Coconut Milk Whipped Cream, or even Chocolate Espresso Whipped Cream. One of my favorites is Nitro Cold Brew Coffee I have yet to use it for foams.Spraying in the bread dough

NO2 Cartridges

Double-check that you are using N2O and not CO2 because they are not interchangeable. CO2 cartridges are for soda makers and not Whipped Cream Dispensers. Make that you are using the correct N2O whip cream chargers for your name-brand whipped cream maker. They do make several name brands and sizes of Whipped Cream Chargers. For example, ISI makes its own brand of chargers called ISI 10-pack Whipper Chargers.

Whipped Cream Appears Runny

Here is what I have noticed when my whipped cream appears runny. I forgot to shake after adding the N2O cartridge. So definitely shake it before using it. On occasion, you will need to use two N2O whip cream chargers. Some chargers make liters and not quarts big difference. Double-check that you use the correct whipped cream charger for your name-brand cream maker.

My one complaint is that the decorating nozzle frequently gets clogged.  I noticed that now some brands are providing a small cleaning device for it. Be sure to clean out the decorating nozzle as it can get clogged.

Whipped Cream is not dispensing:

Sometimes the nozzle gets clogged. First, try shaking the canister 20 times or more. Then tip upside down and spray whip cream out. If this doesn’t work try removing the decorative tip. Just remove the tip and place it underwater or use a toothpick to dislodge the clog. Replace the tip and shake the canister. Tip upside down and spray out whipped cream.

My Notes:

I don’t know about you but I love learning about new recipes and new tools to make new and creative recipes. Therefore if you love whipped cream this is the tool for you. In conclusion, this gadget is useful for both sweet and savory. Furthermore, I will need to write more recipes using this device.

Needless to say, the new devices have way more attachments than mine do as there are now newer uses for these devices. For example, they now have needle-like attachments that can infuse meats, pastries, and more. New recipes are being created all the time by professional chefs and home chefs as well. It is therefore why I may be getting a newer device for Christmas. Stay tuned for more recipes using my favorite gadget.

For me, the only drawback is the cost of cartridges. Depending on the device you have the price ranges from $16.95 for 10 cartridges to $51.20 for 24.

ISI Whipped Cream Recipe or Whipped Cream Dispenser Recipe:

  • 2 cups whipping cream
  • 1 tbsp powdered vanilla Monkfruit Sweetener

Directions:

Pour all ingredients into a Whipped Canister. Consequently, it is super easy to make whipped cream. How easy?

First, unscrew the top of the canister and fill to the fill line with cold whipped cream add in a tsp or more of vanilla or vanilla powdered monk fruit sugar. It needs to be in place or the canister will not work properly. The small plastic ring can be removed for cleaning. Thirdly, you will take the charger carrier and place one N2O charger inside the carrier. Screw the top back onto the dispenser.Charger Carrier with Charger inside of it.

Notes About Name Brand

Depending on the brand name and size of your dispenser as well as the amount of whipping cream it may need two cartridges of N2O.

Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s directions for the Name Brand Whipped Cream Dispenser. Most importantly, hold it upside down before using it. This allows for the contents to be nice and fluffy. Check the brand name of your dispenser to find out if you need to refrigerate before using it. 

When screwing the charger into the dispenser you will hear a slight hiss as the cartridge releases its N2O inside the canister. Finally, you will need to give the dispenser 6 – 12 good hard shakes. Next, remove the charger carrier and throw it away as each charger is a one-time use only. Then screw on the cap where the charger carrier was. Important Information:

Most importantly hold the canister upside down before dispersing whipped cream. Finally spray the whipped cream on pie, cake, or ice cream. Voila, you have just made whipped cream in about 2 minutes.Spraying out the cream from a whipped cream siphon

Please note that you will have to shake the dispenser every time you wish to dispense whipped cream. Store the filled canister in the fridge. Make sure to note the expiration date on your whipping cream. Double-check that the whipped cream has not expired before serving. If it has expired dispose of it. Remember the canister is pressurized. Make sure to empty the contents before removing the top. Once all contents have been released, and no air is coming from the canister, then and only then can you remove the top by unscrewing it.

Wash with warm water and soap make sure to remove the plastic ring inside the top. That’s it.

Ingredients

    Well this is fantastic! I’m on a mission to stop buying the store bought whipped cream because of the ingredients like carrageenan. Thank you for sharing a detailed recipe and review! In your opinion, what’s the best model whipped cream dispenser? Also, how long does 1 N20 cartridge last you?

    We’ve been using one since the holidays this year and find we often have a hard time getting the last of the cream out. Any tips/tricks for making sure you get to use up all the cream? I’m considering storing it upside down in my fridge, so gravity can help 🙂

      Choklit, that is a good idea. I often release the pressure then open the canister. I dump out the remaining whipped cream and then just dollop on items or put into a pastry bag and use a pretty tip to place on top of any cake. You can also use another cartridge. I don’t as cartridges are pricey. I do hope this helps. Thanks for commenting. Have a wonderful and blessed day.

      Try checking the nozzel to see if it is clogged. If it is remove the nozzle and run a little hot water through it to unclog. Next, return nozzle shake 20 times return to fridge for 5 minutes. Remove from fridge shake again and turn upside down and spray out the whipped cream.
