Scandinavian Lemon Dill Shrimp these shrimp will have you licking your fingers. In fact, they are so decadent and delicious with a hint of dill flavor. Eat these shrimp as the main course or have them as an appetizer. Indeed, it is a classical Swedish way to make peel and eat shrimp. If you love shrimp then this recipe is for you. Not to mention that these shrimp would make the perfect for Christmas, New Year’s Eve, or super bowl appetizer or for an intimate dinner or even for a party. Can’t wait to get together with others once covid is gone.
Needless to say, this was one of the appetizers on my smorgasbord table this year. In fact, it was one of my son’s favorites. He kept telling me that he felt like it tasted like lobster. In any case, this is my version of a vintage Swedish recipe for peel and eat shrimp. Whenever I go to Scandinavia this is one of the dishes I have to have before I leave the country. Not to mention I often dream about this shrimp as it is so appetizing, succulent, and luscious. All in all, shrimp is one of my favorite things to eat.
Scandinavian Lemon Dill Shrimp:
Consequently, this boiled lemon dill Shrimp recipe is quick and easy. At any rate, this recipe can be doubled or tripled if need be. Incidentally, seafood is eaten a lot in Scandinavia, not just in Sweden. In short, shrimp is eaten throughout the year as well as during the holidays and festivals such as Christmas, New Year’s, and Midsummer. I myself have served these shrimp at a potluck, Super Bowl Party, 4th of July, Easter, Valentine’s day. Scandinavian Lemon Dill Shrimp
Ingredients:
- 3 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 lb large shrimp (31-35 count)
- 1 1/2 tsp pink salt
- 2 tbsp monk fruit sweetener
- 1 oz fresh whole dill (stems and all)
- 4 tbsp Masala Wine
- 4 1/2 cups of water
Directions:
First, get a medium size pan. Squeeze lemon juice into the pot adding the rind of the lemon to the pot as well. Place the remaining ingredients in a pot and bring to a boil.
Boil until shrimp turn pink approximately 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat. Allow to cool. Place the cold shrimp with the juices into the fridge overnight to absorb some of the juices.
Remove from the fridge and remove the shells or allow guests to peel and eat. Place shrimp on a platter or place in a nice decorative rim of a bowl add cocktail sauce and lemon slices to serve.

Chef’s Note:
Keep shells if you wish to make a seafood bisque or broth with them. Place the shells into a freezer bag and freeze until the day you intend to use them.

Ingredients
- 1 lb large shrimp 16-20 count
- 3 tbsp fresh-squeezed lemon juice
- 1 oz whole dill stems and all
- 1 1/2 tsp pink salt
- 2 tbsp monk fruit sweetener
- 4 tbsp Masala Wine
- 4 1/2 cups water
Instructions
- First, get a medium size pan.
