Gluten-Free Steak & Potato Stew is a delicious nuanced soup. I made this soup from leftovers. During winter many of my soups are from leftovers. Consequently, I had leftover twice baked loaded potatoes and leftover steak. Nevertheless, I wanted to create a soup that was reminiscent of a stew I once had when I was a teen in Sweden. It is called a Sailors Stew in Sweden. Believe, it or not this soup was traditionally made in galleys aboard ships in Sweden. However, I don’t think you have ever had a soup like this before. Initially, I was going to use beer.
Gluten-Free Steak & Potato Soup
Since I am not a beer person I went to my source Great Beer Now. I asked Bran what beer he would suggest. He suggested I try a local beer. My next, contact was a local brewery. Great Basin Brewery who suggested a Gluten-Free Apple Cider. I was happy to accept the suggestion. In fact, he suggested Gluten-Free Long Bow Hard Cider. Let me tell you I was hesitant at first. However, my husband and family thought this soup was outstanding.
Indeed, I also tossed in the bones from the leftover T-Bone steak into the soup. At any rate, bones are a terrific way to add depth of flavor to soups and stews. At any rate, I want to thank my Friend Great Beer Now for suggesting that I use local and Great Basin Brewery for the Cider and the suggestion. In conclusion, it is a one-pot soup. Quick and easy to make. If your leftover meat does not have a bone don’t worry about it.
