Sage Thyme Gluten-Free Crackers are a crispy savory treat. Perfect with cheese, meat, jam, or nut butter. These savory crackers are the perfect artisan crispy, crunchy, snack, or appetizer. Indeed, these beautiful tasty crackers are perfect for a charcuterie board. At any rate, they are far cheaper to make yourself than to buy.
Sage Thyme Gluten-Free Crackers:
Furthermore, I have created recipes for a very long time. Needless to say, in the beginning, I didn’t take the time to write them down. Hence, it was my husband who actually encouraged me to write them down as he wanted them again. Incidentally, these crackers make the perfect crumb bread coating. In any case, these are the crackers I use for my Southern Chicken Fried Chicken or even change the flavor profile of Gluten-Free Chicken Fried Steak. Moreover, crackers are quick and easy to make. Rolling the dough and cutting the crackers out is what takes the longest amount of time.
In all honesty, I love these crackers. Indeed, they are so flavorful. Consequently, I have vintage recipes that call for cracker crumbs in bread coating. Incidentally, these crackers can be made up to a week in advance.
In any case, read my blog post Cassava Flour Information if you have never heard of it or used it before. Consequently, cassava flour is available in most grocery stores and at Amazon.
In any event, these crackers are great with jam, cheese, dips, meats or just by themselves.
Personal Notes:
In conclusion, I want to leave you with a little uplifting quote: “Every day may not be good. But there is good in everyday.”By Alice Morse Earle.
Sage Thyme Gluten-Free Crackers:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups cassava flour
- 1 teaspoon pink salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of sage
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/3 cup avocado oil
- 1 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon water
Directions:
First, preheat oven to 375 F. Second, mix cassava flour, salt, sage, thyme, onion powder, garlic powder, BBQ seasoning, basil, turmeric, and whisk together. Next, add oil to flour, water, and seasonings blend until well incorporated. Mix thoroughly and form into a ball. If it doesn’t stick together add more water a tablespoon at a time. Keep in mind that cassava flour absorbs more liquid than regular wheat flour. Divide the dough in half.
Finally, lay down two sheets of plastic wrap slightly overlapping. Form half the dough into a rectangle and lay on top of plastic wrap. Next, lay down two more sheets of plastic wrap slightly overlapping on top of the cracker dough. Roll into 1/8 inch. Finally, remove the top plastic wrap layer. Using a pastry cutter and a ruler cut out squares or rectangles.
Oil a baking sheet with your hand or pastry brush. Next, using a spatula carefully lift up the cracker and place it on an oiled cookie sheet.
Lastly, bake 15 – 30 minutes or until slightly brown. Finally, allow to cool then move to an airtight container. Makes approximately 108 crackers.
